Sharjah, United Arab Emirates | Concept

The Arabian Farmhouse desert retreat is designed to be constructed using twenty cube-shaped containers, adhering to the mandate of a low cost, high quality design. A mixture of metals, concrete, wood and sand is used to create a modern aesthetic in the container home. Glass corridors bring in light and create a sense of airiness. The large pool area features ample deck space, representing an outdoor oasis; while the existing sand dune landscape create a sense of privacy.

There are three main zones: the five private residence bedrooms, complete with en-suite bathrooms; the majlis with lofted double height ceiling; and the separate living quarters for weekend majlis guests.

The heart of the home is the main kitchen, dining and living area which is only for the residents’ use. The deck and pool can be accessed directly from this space which has partial canopy coverage. Each deck is connected in some way, creating continuity throughout the project.
